What is the silver rate in India today?
Today's benchmark for 999 silver is ₹218.32 per gram, or ₹2,18,319 per kg, including 15% import duty and 3% GST. It updates through the day as the international price and the rupee move.
Why is silver in India more expensive than the international price?
Because of taxes. Since 13 May 2026 India charges 15% customs duty on silver bullion (10% basic duty plus 5% agriculture cess), and 3% GST applies on top: about 18.5% in total. See the full breakdown.
Why does silver cost more in Shanghai?
China's domestic silver market is partly separated from London by import licensing and a 13% VAT on physical metal, so local demand can push Shanghai prices above the rest of the world. The Shanghai premium is live on the premium tracker.
How often are prices updated?
Every page checks for new prices when you open it and every minute while it stays open. Spot prices come from public market feeds, exchange rates from open exchange-rate data, and Shanghai prices from SGE and SHFE quotes.
Does the price include making charges?
No. The rates are for the metal. Jewellers add making charges and GST on those charges; use the silver price calculator to work out a jewellery bill.
