How the gold rate is calculated
24K gold per gram = gold spot (USD/oz) × USD/INR ÷ 31.1035 × 1.15 (import duty) × 1.03 (GST)
22K is 0.916 of the 24K rate, and 18K is 0.750. The 15% duty is 10% basic customs duty plus a 5% Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess, in force since 13 May 2026; before that it was 6%. Jewellers add making charges (often quoted as a percentage) and GST on those charges.
